Guidelines for Memorial Services
The following information is intended as a general outline providing helpful guidance about funerals or memorial services at Church of the Palms. These services may take place either in the Chapel or the Sanctuary. Funerals or memorial services on the occasion of death are services of worship. They bear witness to the resurrection hope, a central doctrine of our Christian faith.
Arrangements
The service is under the direction of one of the Pastors of the church, who will arrange the details of the service in consultation with the family.
The Pastor will discuss with the family the date, time, and place of the service (Chapel or Sanctuary) and confirm the scheduling.
If a reception is requested, the Food Services Director will contact the family with available options for menu and costs. These costs will be billed directly to the family.
Provided By The Church
A guest book will be provided and placed on a stand. There will be someone stationed at the book inviting people to sign as they enter.
There will be an usher to seat guests.
A simple worship bulletin can be provided, at the discretion of the Pastor, who will supply the information to the Publications Director.
Provided by the Family
Flowers, if desired, are the responsibility of the family. Floral displays may be placed in front of the communion table and will be arranged there under the direction of the Pastor.
