GET INVOLVED!

VOLUNTEERS
This program has been successful because many volunteers dedicate a portion of their time and talents to tutoring. Read on to find out more about these opportunities.

TUTOR
The tutor will tutor one student for one hour, in a subject he/she has sufficient knowledge and interest. This may include helping with homework, reviewing a skill or concept, providing encouragement, and genuinely caring about the student. Volunteers may tutor for a minimum of one hour one day and up to three hours on both Tuesday and Thursday. Prior teaching experience is not necessary.

DAY SUPERVISOR
The Day Supervisor arrives 30 minutes before tutoring begins to get out the needed materials. This person works at the registration table to check the students and tutors in as they arrive and assists the student in finding his/her tutor. About four hours one or two days a week are needed for this job.

DAY SUPERVISOR ASSISTANT
The assistant helps students to find their tutors in the Campus Center.

ENTRANCE SUPERVISOR
The Entrance Supervisor monitors the main entrance to the Campus Center. This person greets the students, monitors behavior in this area and observes that the students remain in the Campus Center until the parents arrive. This job requires about three hours per day.

SNACK SERVER
The Snack Server monitors the snack table and serves the snacks to the students. Three hours per day are needed for this job.

COMPUTER SUPERVISOR
The Computer Supervisor sets up the computer and assists the students and tutors in selecting and using programs. Three hours a day are needed for this job.

MATERIALS SUPERVISOR
The Materials Supervisor assists the students and tutors in finding and returning needed learning material such as dictionaries, book, learning games, paper and pencils. Three hours a day are needed for this job.

TELEPHONE HELPER
The Telephone Helper answers the telephone in the Campus Center during the tutoring hours and delivers messages to the Day Supervisors. Three hours a day are needed for this job.
