at Church of the Palms

As you plan your wedding, we at Church of the Palms rejoice with you, and look forward to your happy day.

We can host your reception too! No need to worry about the rain in our brand new Palms Center. Bring a live band into the Campus Center, or host an outdoor reception under our majestic oak, or on other picturesque parts of our grounds.

Steps:

  • Make an appointment for your pre-marriage consultation(s) with the pastor.
  • Set the date for your rehearsal and wedding.
  • Choose your wedding service and let the pastor know if another, outside pastor will be assisting with the service.
  • Set up a consultation appointment and tour of our facilities with your wedding consultant.
  • Get your Florida marriage license. Clerk of Circuit Court, Sarasota County Courthouse, 941-951-5377
  • Your wedding consultant will work with you to make sure your wedding day runs smoothly and reflects your wishes including but not limited to: consultation with our music department, our catering department and the facilities staff. He/she will be present at the rehearsal and wedding to make sure everything goes off without a hitch!

Rules & Notes

  • To ensure that everyone knows the timing and their role, it’s best if everyone is in attendance at the rehearsal (bride, groom, parents of the bride, attendants, ushers and musicians.) It should take about an hour and is usually the day before the wedding in the afternoon.
  • So as to honor your holy vows, photographs and videography should be conducted subtly. Photographs should be (with the exception of the procession and recession) taken without a flash, and your photographer and/or videographer should plan on documenting the event from the back, or, in the case of the Sanctuary from the balcony. The balcony offers some great vantage points from which to work. Your photographer is welcome to walk through the worship space with the wedding consultant in advance of the ceremony.
  • We have dressing rooms for both the bride and groom and their attendants. The wedding consultant can show you the options.
  • We have a beautiful candelabra which you are welcome to use, please no other candles. Battery operated candles are just fine.
  • If you’d like you can bring a unity candle, we have a holder.
  • Our beautiful worship spaces may minimize the need for floral arrangements.
  • Please no flowers on communion table.
  • Flower petals (if used) should be silk.
  • Save the birds! No rice please, but bubbles, birdseed and sunflower seeds are welcome outside.
  • Ribbons and bows are a lovely addition to the pews. Please no tape, tacks or nails.
  • We’d hate for anything to be lost, please make arrangements for all personal items to be removed when the ceremony is over.
  • No alcohol. No smoking inside, and please no food or drink inside the Sanctuary or Chapel.
